The word that best describes this holiday weekend is interesting! Larren and Amberly came to visit with the nephew-puppy Scooter. We watched Logan's fireworks on Thursday night. Friday, we decided to drive to Inspiration Point and watch the fireworks from above. Basically, you turn off in Mantua and go offroading until you get to the top of the mountain. The ride is exciting to say the least. Inspiration Point overlooks Ogden on one side and then you can see Cache Valley on the other. It's truly stunning. When we got up to the top of the mountain, there were other folks who had the same idea. There was still snow up there and it was muddy in some spots. We got to the top at sunset. The sunsets lately have been gorgeous because of all the smoke from the wildfires in California. There was a definite haze over the valley. I got this picture of the sunset over Willard Bay.
The fireworks were fun to watch from up above. There were 3 or 4 shows going on that we could see throughout Ogden. We were on our way back down the mountain and there were some people on the side of the road that had been up watching the fireworks with us. It was a younger couple and their 2 huge dogs. Apparently, they took a turn wrong or something and they rolled their Jeep. Yes rolled their Jeep! They were surprisingly okay. The guy had some glass in his leg is all. They and their dogs hopped in the back of Craig's truck. They called a friend who lived in Brigham City to come get them and he met them in Mantua.
Today (Saturday), we went to the Cache Valley Cruise-In parade, part of the classic car show that comes to Cache Valley every 4th of July weekend. I decided that I like Mustangs. Someday . . . We had a BBQ out in Smithfield with da fam afterward. Good times!
